PETALING JAYA: A 20-year-old imam clad in jubbah was among eight Mat Rempit nabbed by police for riding his motorcycle in a dangerous manner in a special operation last night.
Police said the imam of a mosque in Rantau Panjang, Klang, was among those arrested during the special police operation against road bullies.
Deputy director of Bukit Aman’s traffic investigation and enforcement department Nadzri Hussain said the imam was caught indulging in dangerous stunts while riding his motorcycle.
“He was among eight people, aged from 14 to 24, who were arrested for riding their motorcycles in a dangerous manner in our operations in Shah Alam, Klang and Kuala Lumpur,” Berita Harian reported him as saying.
Nadzri said the operations were carried out on the NKVE and Kesas highways, adding that the suspects are being probed under Section 28A of the Road Transport Act.
