PETALING JAYA: PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail believes it is difficult for the party to move forward due to a number of “treacherous” leaders in its ranks.

He said there were those who wished to “take time off”, leaving the task of advancing the party to president Anwar Ibrahim and whichever leaders remained.

“It remains difficult for PKR to move forward when a number of key leaders are treacherous.

“Anwar’s order is simple: before the party makes a decision, any member is free to voice their opinion.

“Members are free to agree or disagree and even criticise the decision but should never give an ultimatum over it,” he said on Facebook today.

Saifuddin said every party decision is discussed and decided together.

“Regardless of the party’s decision being good or bad, we take responsibility for it because we adhere to the principle of accountability.”

He stressed that when the party comes to a decision, its members should comply and implement it.

PKR will hold its party elections in May and changes to its leadership are expected to take place.

It was recently reported that Saifuddin will battle PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who announced his return to active politics last week, for the party’s No. 2 post.

The post of deputy president has been vacant since Azmin Ali was sacked from the party following his role in the Sheraton Move, which brought down the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.
