KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): As daily Covid-19 cases breach 10,000 on Sunday (Feb 6), Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysia is now experiencing the full Omicron wave, with new cases expected to hit 15,000 soon amid the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus variant.
“Fully into Omicron wave. Cases will reach 15k soon. There are still 1 million senior ciztizens who have not had their booster doses. Please inform your loved ones to get their booster dose immediately,” Khairy tweeted on Sunday.
The tweet came after Malaysia reported 10,089 daily Covid-19 cases on Sunday, up from 9,117 the previous day — the highest level seen since Oct 2 last year (10,915 cases).
The country has reported 2,914,220 cumulative confirmed coronavirus infections so far.
