PETALING JAYA: The Selangor fire and rescue department has reported two cases of flash floods in Kajang today.

In an incident report, the department said the first flash flood was reported at the Glen Court Apartments in Bandar Sg Long at 5.19pm, while the second was reported at a public housing area in Taman Lembah Mewah at 5.35pm.

“There was an overflow from a nearby pool which completely receded by the time the fire department arrived at the location,” it said of the 0.3m flash flood at the Glen Court Apartments.

It said the 0.6m flash flood at Taman Lembah Mewah was because of heavy rain and clogged drains, adding that the water level in the area was also receding

There were no victims in both flash floods, said the department.

Earlier today, the department of irrigation and drainage warned that Sungai Langat in Kajang had reached a dangerous level and was rising.

In a statement released at 6.30pm, it also warned that Sungai Langat in Taman West Country, which is located near Bandar Baru Bangi, had reached a dangerous level and was rising.
