KUALA LUMPUR: Covid-19 safety SOPs for the Christmas and Thaipusam celebrations will be announced soon, said senior minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
In a statement, Hishammuddin said human resources minister M Saravanan and national unity minister Halimah Mohd Sadique attended the Covid-19 Ministerial Quartet meeting today to discuss and finalise the SOPs for the celebrations.
For Christmas, he said, the SOPs would be focused on the activities in churches, open houses and carolling. For Thaipusam, they would be focused on kavadi and chariot processions.
“I urge the public to comply with the SOPs that will be announced by the national unity ministry soon,” he said.
Separately, Saravanan said he had submitted several recommendations for Thaipusam’s SOPs during the meeting.
“These recommendations will be decided upon during the next meeting,” he told a press conference after launching a career carnival for persons with disabilities.
Saravanan said the carnival was held to ensure that disabled people get an equal opportunity to contribute to the country’s economy.
The carnival offered various activities such as career counselling and open interviews, among others.
Sixteen employers took part in the carnival and offered about 2,000 job opportunities for the disabled community.
